IU 5 Student Assistance Program

The IU5 Student Assistance Program MH Liaison Program (SAP) provides mental health prefessional services in 12 Erie County secondary schools and three parochial high schools.  The SAP is patterned after the employee assistance programs that developed in the late 1970s and is designed to provide mental health screenings for students who are referred, with prior written informed parental consent, and follow-up consultations with school staff and parents.  When indicated the mental health professionals in this program also facilitate referrals for students and their parents to coummunity-based services.  The SAP MH Liaison Program is supported by the Pennsylvania Departments of Education, Health and Welfare.  More can be learned about this statewide program at http://www.sap.state.pa.us/desktopdefault.aspx .

SAP Training Project

IU5 is one of twenty-six Commonwealth-Approved Training Agencies fo the statewide Student Assistance Program.  Learn more about SAP Training at http://www.sap.state.pa.us/desktopdefault.aspx.
