Position Overview:
Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) is seeking applicants for a full-time, Substitute Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for the Erie County region for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year.  The goal of an SLP is to provide remedial services to students with speech, language, voice, fluency, or hearing disorders with the outcome of improving expressive/receptive communication and attain the necessary speech and language skills. 
Required Qualifications:
•PA Educational Specialist Certificate – School Speech and Language Pathologist PK-12
• PA State Licensure in Speech/Language Pathology
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC’s) – Preferred
Essential Functions:
 • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.

Position Overview:
The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) has a need for Substitute Teachers for both regular education and special education for the 2016-2017. The daily is rate based on individual district substitute rates (ranging from approximately $75- $85 a day).  Training and job shadowing within the classroom is provided for all emergency substitutes.  Please click on the following link to view locations for subbing opportunities with the IU5.

Position Overview
The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) is seeking a full-time, Supervisor of Special Education. This is a supervisory level position responsible to provide effective programmatic and supervisory supports to IU5 professionals and support staff, as well as school district personnel and parents to assure that individuals with disabilities receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education. This position is responsible for the oversight of the instructional program, staff supervision and evaluation, staff development, and public relations while providing leadership with local educational agencies in the area of special education supervisory services.

Required Qualifications:
• Supervisory of Special Education Certification
• Five years teaching experience within special education

Desired Qualifications:
• Prior supervisory experience preferred
• Advance knowledge of Special Education Law
• Advance knowledge in Curriculum, Instruction, and Research-based practices
• Advance knowledge in Supervision

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Supervise and evaluate assigned specialists, teaching, and paraprofessional staff
• Lead, manage and monitor the special education processes in assigned program areas
• Participate in the interviewing of prospective employees and provide recommendations for employment
• Oversee the procedural compliance of all pupil placements from point of referral to IEP development, implementation and to transition to adult life
• Facilitate the implementation of research-based best practices with staff
• Plan and facilitate professional development to IU staff and support special education programming in local educational agencies when requested
• Participate in meetings to develop IU/district goals and budget contracts.
• Oversee the requisitioning of materials for new and existing programs, contributes to budgetary conversations, and evaluate the facilities utilized annually.
• Implement IU policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education and Assistant Director of Special Education

Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) has a need for Substitute Teacher’s Aides in our special education classes in Erie, Warren, and Crawford Counties. The job of the Teacher's Aide is to assist the teacher and reinforce the instruction taught in the classroom to students.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Required employment clearances
• Updated TB Test (within 3 months)
Position Overview:
The Migrant Education Parent Involvement Coordinator/Student Support Specialist is responsible for utilizing the resources of the home, school, and community to maximize the18.2721 in the attainment of a high school diploma or its equivalent.  They will also work with schools and service agencies to advocate and assist all students in developing self-concepts, educational competencies, etc. to become responsible and productive members of the society.  This is a grant funded position for approximately 80 hours through June and July. The starting rate for this position is $18.27. This position has the potential to become full-time with benefits starting in August 2017.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
• Valid PA driver’s license
Desired Qualifications:
• PA Instructional Certificate
• Experience with accessing regional support services
• Bilingual in Spanish
• 1-3 years of previous experience as a teacher or caseworker or other experience involving the direct services to children and young adults
• Working knowledge of Migrant Education Program and services
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Maintain a working knowledge of guidelines, regulations, and procedures relevant to the Migrant Education Program
• Develop and maintain an understanding of educational initiatives, developmentally-appropriate programs, government and social services, parental involvement activities, etc. which are available for migrant students, and multicultural awareness issues as appropriate
• Provide instructional support and intervention for students through their schools, homes, and appropriate service agencies
• Maintain a positive working relationship with appropriate stakeholders, funding agents, and IU5 staff
• Act as an advocate for the Migrant Education Program and migrant students by explaining the components of the program to parents, schools, government, social service agencies, and other appropriate community agencies
• Maintain all required and appropriate records and necessary documentation accurately
• Encourage and track migrant children ages 3 through 21 (with primary responsibility for students in preschool through grade 5) relative to their successful experience with school regarding attendance, class performance, and gains in testing, progress toward graduation or kindergarten readiness
• Help plan, conduct, and evaluate a summer school program  and summer in home program
• Assess the accomplishments and progress of students on a regular basis, provide reports as required, and through collaboration refer issues and concerns to the appropriate agency(ies)
• Maintain effective communications with and provide regular program updates to the Supervisor, Assistant Director and the Director of SIS Federal and State Programs
