Position Overview:
The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) has a need for Substitute Teachers for both regular education and special education for the 2017-2018 school year. The daily rate is based on individual district substitute rates (ranging from approximately $75- $85 a day).  Training and job shadowing within the classroom is provided for all emergency substitutes. 

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in any field
• Required employment clearances
• Updated TB Test (within 3 months)

Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) has a need for Substitute Teacher’s Aides in our special education classes in Erie, Warren, and Crawford Counties. The job of the Teacher's Aide is to assist the teacher and reinforce the instruction taught in the classroom to students.

Position Overview:
The Northwest Tri-County IU5 is seeking a TRiO Talent Search Academic Specialist. The Talent Search Academic Specialist is responsible for delivering academic, career, and STEM curriculum and services to low- income, first-generation students in grades 6-12. The Academic Specialist will report to the TRiO Program Supervisor and work with a team of other Academic Specialists serving the Erie and Union City School Districts.​ 

Job Duties will include:

  • Academic advising and intervention, financial aid and financial literacy advising, career counseling and STEM education
  • Maintain an annual caseload of Talent Search students
  • Coordinate the recruitment and selection of eligible student participants under the program admissions process; assure that all grant guidelines regarding eligibility are met
  • Design intervention strategies to increase academic performance (quarterly progress reports, academic skills development, etc.)
  • Coordinate program events and activities (workshops, campus visits, tutoring, and a 1 -week summer camp)
  • Facilitate completion of applications to postsecondary institutions, financial aid, and scholarships
  • Document and record students need for services, academic support, and verification of income, and first-generation status
  • Maintain timely and accurate student records including contact logs, case notes, and files

Qualifications:

  • Qualified applicants will have a bachelor’s degree (preferred) in education, counseling, higher education, social services, or related field. 
  • Candidates should have experience working with underrepresented populations. 
  • Familiarity with current knowledge of TRIO programs and working with low-income, first-generation students is preferred. 
  • In accordance with federal grant guidelines, the preferred candidate’s parents would not have a college degree and/or are from a low socio-economic background.  

This is a part-time, contracted position of 28 hours per week at $20.00 per hour. The Talent Search Academic Specialist works primarily during the school year with time off during the summer.

Position Summary:

The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) has an opening for a full time Speech Language Pathologists (SLP).  The SLP will Assess and treat students with a wide range of speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders. Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, cognitive-communication using a variety of qualitative and quantitative assessment methods and specialized instruments in order to analyze and diagnose the nature and extent of speech impairments. SLP’s work in conjunction with Occupational Therapists, Special Education Teachers, parents and other staff to provide services to attain both short and long range goals for the educational advancement of the student. 

Qualifications Required:

  • Master’s of Art in Speech-Language Pathology
  • PA Educational Specialist Certificate – School Speech and Language Pathologist PK-12
  • PA State Licensure in Speech Language Pathology

Desired Qualifications:

  • ASHA certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC’s)

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Plan and monitor purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.

The PENNCREST School District, Crawford County, PA, is looking for its next Superintendent of Schools.  The anticipated appointment is on or about June 1, 2018. The school district currently serves approximately 2,800 students with an annual budget of nearly $50 million. The board of directors is looking for an accomplished leader with proven success in raising student achievement and a commitment to providing a dynamic 21st century learning environment where all students, including those with diverse socio-economic backgrounds, can achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will be a strong leader that is active in the school communities, visible throughout the tri-county region and possesses the educational background and communication skills that promotes close cooperation between parents, teachers, other school district staff and the community in a collaborative, child-centered environment. The successful candidate will be skilled in long-range planning, 1:1 technologies in the classroom, STEM education, PDE initiatives and implementing cost effectiveness strategies while maximizing human and financial resources. Ideally, the successful candidate will have proven experience as a teacher and school administrator, including central office experience as well as successful experiences with community involvement and proven leadership skills.  S/he will be a person with a high standard of ethics. Salary is negotiable and will be competitive. Qualifications will meet board criteria, including but not limited to the skills listed above. PA letter of eligibility required, doctorate preferred.

Position Overview:

The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit (IU5) is seeking a part-time Aide for an IU5 Early Intervention classroom in Warren County.

Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Successful completion of Paraprofessional Assessment OR associate's (or higher) degree or a minimum of two years of college (64 credits)
• Experience working with 3-5 year olds with special needs (preferred)
